About Andrea

I’ve been running  for 12+ years but I’ve been into sports my whole life.  I started with ballet, softball, volleyball, track and basketball (yuk!), then went into running, kickboxing, and triathlon.  Right now I’m really enjoying long-distance trail running/ultramarathon.  I enter a few running races (both road and trail) a year, as well as triathlons.

My very first triathlon was a sprint (.25 mile swim, 11 mile bike, 3 mile run) at Fort Desoto in St. Pete in November 2002.  Since then I’ve raced a couple other sprints, but I’m not fast, so I pretty quickly began training for half-iron distance (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13 mile run) triathlons.  My first was in Clermont Florida in October 2004 and my second in Panama City Beach in May 2005.  I finished my first Ironman (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run) in Frankfurt Germany in July of 2005.  I’ve been to a few other HIM’s and I was lucky enough to get into a lottery for the World Championship 70.3 (half-ironman) in Clearwater, Florida in November 2006.

In July 2007 I became a two-timer as I crossed the finish line at Ironman Austria, then turned around to finish my first 50K ultramarathon in October.  In April 2008 I completed my first 50-mile run, and in July a crazy 100K in Vermont. My second 50-mile run was in Texas in 2009 followed by my third Ironman in Zurich, Switzerland in July. I know, I’m a nut!
Now I am searching for my Next Big Thing
